All our pieces are handcrafted from 100% US steel by Rick & Amy Wetmore right here in Farmville, Virginia.
Steel is the most common and most durable option. We use heavy-gauge hot-rolled carbon steel for maximum strength and detail.
Yes — and that's the beauty of it! Our pieces develop a natural patina over time that makes each one unique. The rust is the point.
For raw steel pieces, apply a clear outdoor sealant once or twice a year. Or just let it be — the natural rust patina is part of the appeal.
Powder coating is the gold standard. It bonds to the steel at high temperature and resists chipping, fading, and rust far better than spray paint.
Start with a wire brush to remove loose rust, apply rust-inhibiting primer, then use outdoor-rated spray paint. Apply 2-3 thin coats for the best finish.
